Mr Kerridge owned the shop on St John’s Cross in the latter half of the 19th century.  The photograph taken in the 1890s shows Mr and Mrs Barrett who ran the shop. It was sold to William Thurgood who owned the shop for over 50 years. Several years later it was turned into two private houses called The Courtyard and The Long House.
