Machon’s butcher Shop was in Carmen Street in a house now called Littlemead. In this photograph from the 1920s he is standing outside on the left and further along is Andrews’ Bakery.  To find out more about the shops in the village see ‘Commerce in Great Chesterford, 1900-1950’, by Ian Deatker, available from the Society.
